Join the 2019 Steering Council!

Nominations/Applications for LYPA’s 2019 Steering Council are now open through Dec. 12.

LYPA runs on a volunteer board of people committed to area young professionals. We need dedicated people to help make LYPA and Lexington great. If you’re looking to get more involved, want to work on a new skill, or want to meet people, LYPA’s board is for you. We need people interested in various areas, including communications, event planning, finances, and fundraising.

If you want to apply or want to nominate someone, please download this form and send it to lexingtonyoungprofessionals@gmail.com by Dec. 12. More information about each available position is included in the form.

LYPA members will vote on the candidates after all nominations/applications are received.

2018 Call for Rising Stars Nominations

The Lexington Young Professionals Association is seeking nominations for the annual Rising Stars Awards. These awards are meant to recognize young professionals in the Lexington-Fayette County area and surrounding communities who demonstrate a strong commitment to impacting the community in a positive manner through professional and non-professional service and achievement.

In addition, individuals who are currently serving on the LYPA Steering Council or previous Rising Stars recipients are not eligible.  However, past nominees who were not selected for the award are strongly encouraged to resubmit an application.

Individuals will be selected by an outside selection committee, composed of leaders in the Lexington –Fayette County community. Details on the awards banquet will be available soon.

The start of 2017 has been exciting for LYPA! We received a lot of interest in our steering council positions, and member voting/participation has exceeded previous years by up to 10 times! I can see that 2017 holds some great things for our organization. Thank you to all that played an active role in 2016. We hope that you stay involved this year as well! YP Unite Summit

Making Strides Against Breast CancerOn Sunday, October 23rd The American Cancer Society is hosting “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer”, a 5K walk at Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington.

About Strides Against Breast Cancer

Last year the American Cancer Society raised over $115,000 with 1400+ people (that was in the rain too!). This year, they are shooting for 2000+ people and hopefully $150,000 raised. The walk is truly about bringing together those who have passion for ending the pain and suffering from breast cancer, celebrating our survivors and raising money that goes back to breast cancer patient programs and research.

Happy Hour @ Lexington Beerworks on 10/20!

Join us in October for our networking happy hour at one of our favorite places – Lexington Beerworks – with some of our favorite people – Toyota Manufacturing’s Young Professionals group.  We’ve joined with Toyota for this event to double the social and networking opportunities.

Happy hour will be on Thursday, October 20 at 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM at Lexington Beerworks, located at 213 N Limestone, Lexington, Kentucky 40507.  Street parking is available – meters are free after 5:00pm!

About CEIDK

The Community and Economic Development Initiative of Kentucky (CEDIK) emerged as a college level unit within the University of Kentucky’s College of Agriculture, Food and Environment (CAFE) in 2010. CAFE administration recognized the need for both an internal source of professional development and instruction for students and county extension agents, as well as an external reach to Kentucky communities with programming and research that focused on community and economic development.
